I am currently working on a project which uses fog of war. I am unsure how to change the shadows so that they conceal whatever is behind them. Thanks for any help that you can give me in addressing this issue.

Dan,

I think what you're looking for is the shadow type, which you can find more about here http://krypton.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=Types%20of%20Shadows&referringTitle=Documentation.

Also, you will need to make sure that the ambient color is completely opaque (black) as to not allow the background to show through.

However, if you wanted to display something *else* instead of the background, you would need to write a shader to display that background in an inverse relation to how much of the foreground is show (ie, final = foreground * lightmap + background * (1-lightmap)).

I hope this simple explanation helps you along your way. Let me know if you need more detail. :)
